Re: Phoenix, AZ USA

I'm in! Sorry about not being around for the last one. Any thoughts about where to go in our lovely 100 degree heat? Since we did the Heard for our last summer sketchcrawl, do we want to try the Phoenix Art Museum this time?

Love to hear what others might be thinking of for a venue...

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA

I'm going to miss the sketchcrawl  I have a rehearsal for a concert scheduled for that day. Hope everyone else gets together and has a great time.

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA

It doesn't much matter to me. The weather will be cool so sketching outdoors will be a pleasure. I also wouldn't mind meeting at the end of the day like Enrico suggested. We seem to be a pretty early group so maybe we could meet for coffee - tea - snacks at 3pm or 4pm. I'm not sure where everyone l...

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA - [Results]

It was another beautiful (thought hot at 91 degrees F) day at the Desert Botanical Garden. I only managed to get three little sketches done. This was the first one, drawn from a table near the cafe - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3161/2975598773_561be6a410.jpg This was the second one that I did as ...

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA

It looks like the Desert Botanical Garden got the most votes. Shall we meet at the tables near the cafe somewhere around 9:00am? The garden opens at 8:00am so that gives us time to buy tickets and get back to the cafe area. If you come a little late, we'll probably meet back at the tables at 12:00pm...

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA

Hi! We have less than a week and we still haven't figured out a time and place. How about we go to downtown Phoenix? The weather isn't as cool as I was hoping it would be by the end of October but it fluctuates so the weather could be broiling or it could be gorgeous. I suggest that we meet outside ...

Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA

I love your little lizard guy! What a fabulous mascot. I agree that we should go somewhere outside since the weather would be beautiful. I'm up for a garden or a zoo. Does anyone know what month the Chihuly sculptures are going to be placed at Desert Botanical Garden?

Can't wait!

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - [Results]

Craig: Thank you for getting your post up so quickly! You are amazing. It's a bummer that a scanner isn't as good as the human eye. The posting of your first sketch just doesn't do it justice. In real life, the colors within the arch just pop and seem alive. I love the detailed work you do. Waterbl...

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - [Results]

We had a great Sketchcrawl yesterday. There were seven of us at the Heard Museum, 8 if you include baby Kane. Here are a few of my sketches: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2600496409_f8f92a966a.jpg I sketched this in the courtyard of the Heard Museum as we were waiting for them to open and for ...

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - USA

Craig: I called the Heard and they allow sketching. They don't even place any restrictions so we can use pens and watercolor. They also allow photography as long as you don't use flash. I thought I should emphasize that we are going to be at the Heard Downtown (the one on Central, north of McDowell)...

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - USA

We have less than a week before our next meet up! Is anyone else going to be able to make it? I'm suggesting the Heard at 10:00am. We could do some sketching independently and then meet up at the cafe at noon. What do you think?

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - USA

Only 2 more weeks before the next sketchcrawl! Shall we go ahead and plan on the Heard Museum in central Phoenix? They open at 9:30am and admission is $10 each for adults. Is there anyone that is really familiar with the museum? Is there a good place for us to meet (a big statue or a main lobby)? Ca...

Re: Phoenix - Arizona - USA

I agree that we need to move indoors. I've had fun sketching in the Phoenix Art Museum and they definitely have a lot of material for inspiration. The Heard would be fun as well. I know we talked about trying one of the local malls (I don't remember which one). We could also try the State Capitol Mu...
