Re: New Plymouth, New Zealand. (Results).

Thank-you Sylvie and Trevor. Maurice was away for the weekend in Hamilton, but he still wanted to participate. He took time out of his busy schedule to sketch the Fairfield Bridge. This is a tied-arch bridge in the Art Deco style. It was first opened in April 1937. It is one of my favourite bridges....

Re: New Plymouth, New Zealand. (Results).

Mary also sketched Te Rewa Rewa Bridge. She tucked herself away out of view of the path to get a better sketch of the bridge.

Here is her sketch:

Re: New Plymouth, New Zealand. (Results).

It was a glorious day today. Perfect weather for going out sketching. Before lunch I went to the East End Reserve and walked from there along the Te Henui Walkway to the second walking bridge across the Te Henui Stream. I set myself up beside the path and began to sketch. It was rather an interestin...

New Plymouth, New Zealand. (Results).

Some of our group members were away or not well for sketchcrawl, so we only had a small group this time. We still got out there though! New Plymouth is on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Our province is Taranaki, so we call ourselves The Taranaki Sketchers. The theme we decided on...

Re: New Plymouth New Zealand [RESULTS]

Good to see everyone's sketches! I had seen some but not others. As I said earlier there was a good display of very realistic model aircraft. They weren't being flown on the day as the modellers weren't allowed to share air space with the big planes. I thought that was a bit of a shame as they were ...

Re: New Plymouth New Zealand [RESULTS]

The open day went most of the day, so we were a bit staggered in getting there, (hence no group photos), but I'm sure we all enjoyed the challenge of sketching aircraft. There were plenty of big planes and a good display of model aircraft as well. I sketched one of each. Here is my first sketch of a...

Re: New Plymouth New Zealand [RESULTS]

Yesterday was the 51st Worldwide Sketchcrawl Day. Seeing the world one drawing at a time. Our theme for the day was Maori and Colonial. We met at Puke Ariki and sketched in and around about there. My first sketch was of a Wahaika: https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/13062...

Re: New Plymouth, New Zealand [RESULTS]

I was traveling home from Auckland today, so I didn't manage to join our group The Taranaki Sketchers. While we were waiting at the airport my 6 year old Grandson and I did a quick sketch to at least have done something! You could say he is the youngest member of the group. He only comes out with us...

Re: TARANAKI SKETCHERS NEW PLYMOUTH, NEW ZEALAND (Results)..

Here is Maurice's Post: The Kings Building is a landmark in the New Plymouth CBD. It houses retail shops, upstairs commercial offices and a Penthouse which has a wonderful view of the New Plymouth waterfront. An interesting feature is that it is built over a stream . The downstairs premises were sub...

Re: TARANAKI SKETCHERS NEW PLYMOUTH, NEW ZEALAND (Results)..

The King's Building took two years to construct and was opened in November 1927. It was built for Newton King Limited, an important local businessman and benefactor. A building permit was issued on the 24th of March 1926 for the King's Building, Jones and Sandford were the builders at an estimated c...
