SketchCrawl !

Wow! What a great sketchcrawl this past saturday! It was hands down the most attended with artists participating and gathering in more than 90 different locations around the globe. Don’t miss checking out all the drawings on the forums! It really still blows my mind that on these days we are soo many around the world drawing at the same time, it’s such a good feeling. A shout goes out to San Paolo in Brazil with a record 120 artists sketchcrawling there! Amazing! In San Francisco we weren’t too far behind with roughly 100 artists participating. It was really fun seeing everyone at the De Young Museum at the end of the afternoon. Below are my day’s watercolors. I started with sketching my daughter, whom I’ve honestly found for quite some time hard to capture. She’s so ridiculously adorable it’s hard to do it justice. These are among the first attempts I feel pretty good about. So, that’s it … and for next SketchCrawl early April! We’ll have a date asap!

Tomorrow, January 10th, it’s the 21st World Wide SketchCrawl and people around the world are joining in to sketch around their towns and cities. We have right now an amazing 95 different locations around the globe with artists meeting and drawing. Stockholm, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro, Seattle, London, Milano, Houston, Brisbane, Shanghai, Dublin, Rome, New York, Seoul, Munich, Paris and many more … To see all locations participating visit the forums. In San Francisco we are trying something a little different this time around, instead of meeting at the beginning of the day in a large group we are planning to meet at the end of the drawing day … the idea is to go on our own separate adventures and reconvene to share them. The meeting and sketchbooks sharing is happening at the De Young Museum cafe at 4pm. Hope some of you can join us! More details here. Wow, what a fantastic day out!! The San Francisco chapter of the global drawing marathon saw more than sixty artists walking the streets of the Mission. It was a summery day here and it was really great to walk around and draw away in this wonderful neighborhood. The rest of the world was sketching away too, don’t miss the ton of different locales posting their drawings at the SketchCrawl forums!!! Hamburg, Florence, Detroit, Tokyo, Berlin, Milan, Seattle, Honolulu, Bangkok, Toronto, Brisbane, Sapporo, Israel, Melbourne, Rome, Copenhagen, Vienna, Brussels, Barcelona, Portland, Gustavsberg (Sweden) and more. What an amazing turn out!!! The world brought together by paper and pencil … Thank you all for participating and for making this the most successful drawing marathon ever ! Looking forward to the next one already … early January, date tbd.

This Saturday it’s the 20th World Wide SketchCrawl! We have more than 50 different locations joining this milestone event! A lot of friends around the globe are gonna take the time to slow down, look around and capture their surroundings on paper. Sorry for the delay on setting the next global drawing marathon day, been a little busy with the TFP, but here’s the day finally: Saturday OCTOBER 25th!! It was an overcast day in SF but no rain, of course. Thanks to all of
you for coming out. We had roughly 60 crawlers around the Marina and Fort Mason today. The rest of the world saw around 52 different locations with avid sketchers roaming about! That’s really exciting, no doubt our biggest worldwide crowd of crawlers. Come by the forums and see drawings from all over the globe! Here’s my offerings from the day (dang trees are hard, gotta get better at ‘em).
